Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour​
  • 1 large egg​
  • 1/2 cup sour cream​
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened​
  • A pinch of salt​

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes​
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated​
  • Salt and pepper to taste​

Dietary Options:

  • Vegetarian: Use the potato and cheese filling.​
  • Vegan: Use plant-based butter, sour cream, and cheese.​

Assembly and Cooking Instructions:

  1. Combine dough ingredients and knead until smooth. Let rest for 30 minutes.​
  2. Roll out dough thinly and cut into circles.​
  3. Place a spoonful of filling on each circle, fold over, and seal edges.​
  4. Boil in salted water until they float, about 3-5 minutes.​
  5. Optional: Fry boiled pierogi in butter until golden.
